Fireproof the Movie

My wife and I went to see Fireproof on opening day. What an incredible movie! I was either laughing or crying throughout the movie. It deals with an important issue - the sanctity of marriage. In today's society we really need to see how important marriage is. As we see marriage break down, we also see our society break down.

I was impressed by not only the quality of the production and the excellent script, but also with the quality of the acting. Sherwood Baptist Church is doing a phenomenal job developing the acting skills of their congregation. Most of the people had only bit parts in the previous movies, but you can see dramatic improvement in their skills. Perhaps it is because of how realistic this script was written. God has really blessed this ministry.

More importantly, this movies deals with the eternal destiny of every man, woman and child. It deals with the importance of knowing Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. The previous two movies dealt with this in a small way, but Fireproof dealt with the issue head on. Nobody who has seen the movie will be able to say that they have never heard a clear presentation of the Gospel.

As a pastor of a church, I have recommended this movie to my congregation and I am recommending it to everyone who is reading this Blog. Take an unsaved friend with you and use it as a tool to help you share the Gospel.

My First Blog

Well, this is my first Blog. It is a crazy day and I still have much to do. We are BBQing today in leiu of our regular Wednesday Night Prayer Meeting and I will start in about an hour. Afterwards I have a Deacon's meeting. I hope it won't be too long, but I suspect it will be as we have much to discuss.

I am preparing for my ordination which is scheduled for September 13th. It is quite a daunting task.
